~ AN AFTERNOON WITH ~

Lisa Wood - Tellin' it like it really is...

On Air Personality:
KEXP 90.3 / 91.7 FM
KJR FM 95.7,
Funky Monkey 104.9 FM

We're hungry for honest information and Lisa surely won't sugar-coat the truth.

Hannah Levin of the Seattle Stranger says, "When I heard that Fox News and Clear Channel had merged earlier this month, all I could do was roll my eyes and feign surprise. KEXP DJ and local activist, Lisa Wood was a lot more proactive--she posted the news item on her blog (www.fukkinwood.blogspot.com), and began writing a DIY guide to boycotting advertisers at commercial rock stations. That's just one example of why Wood is one of the most striking voices in our community. If you don't know who she is yet, you will soon."

As admirable as Wood's passionate voice may be, it's difficult to feel hopeful about commercial radio, given its current dismal state. When asked by Levin if she thinks there's any chance things will change, she replied, "That's kind of what I had in mind when I started writing [my blog]. If there was enough exposure about how this works, could we change things? Yeah, I think so."

(Excerpted from the
"RADIO CLASH - Lisa Wood’s Airwave Activism" by Hannah Levin (Seattle Stranger, Vol 14 No. 15, Dec 23 - Dec 29 2004).

Lisa challenges the Robojocks, Devorules, AQHs, Dialtwisters and all the rest out there in commercial radio land to prove her wrong.  "Be a PART of your community and prove to them that you are worth being a part of it.  If not, your silence will speak volumes."  Visit Lisa's website at www.lisawood.net.
